About
What is Walk the World for?
40,000 people are diagnosed with blood cancer in the UK every year. As a community, our challenge is to complete 1km for every person diagnosed and walk the distance around the world together (40,075km)! All donations from Walk the World will fund vital blood cancer research and support for people affected by blood cancer.
How does it work?
Walk the World is a fundraising challenge taking place from 1st to 31st October 2026, raising money for Blood Cancer UK to fund vital blood cancer research and support for those affected.
The distance around the world is 40,075km and everyone who signs up and logs their activity will contribute to reaching this total collectively.
It’s free to take part and the challenge is completely flexible and personal to you. When you sign up you can choose the distance you want to complete in October. Whether you walk regularly every day/week, or choose one day to walk a certain distance, every contribution matters and will make a difference. You can walk on your own or with friends and family.
Along the way, we ask that you share your personal fundraising page (created when you sign up) and try to raise as much as you can to help fund our vital research into blood cancer.
Is there a registration fee?
No, it’s free to sign up. However, you can help us cover our costs and kickstart your fundraising by adding your first donation to your fundraising page. Simply register by clicking ‘Sign up’ and your fundraising page will be set up automatically, then choose how much you’d like to donate.
Your walk

How do I log my activity?
Your personal Walk the World fundraising page was created for you when you signed up, and you can use this to track your activity. You can add activities manually (watch this handy video to see how) or link your Strava app to your page and have everything you do uploaded automatically. Only activity you record after you’ve connected your accounts will be shared automatically on your page. If you choose to use this tool, you may like to use Strava’s Privacy Zones function to hide your start/finish location.
If you have any problems, please get in touch and we can guide you through it.

I’m sharing a fundraising page, how do I get a t-shirt?
If you’re sharing a fundraising page, please ask your group leader (the person who set up the fundraising page) to let us know the name, t-shirt size and contact details (including address) of everyone who’s sharing their fundraising page by emailing hello@bloodcancer.org.uk.
