Our story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Since 2023, we have been taking part in different charity events to raise money for Blood Cancer UK, this is a charity that is very close to our hearts. We will be doing this in memory of my grandad Dave Longyear. During October as a family we will be taking part in Blood Cancer UK walk the world. We will be logging our distances on this page. Blood Cancer has been a big part of our lives after grandad was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2015, thankfully from all of the research that blood cancer UK do grandad was able to have a stem cell transplant, which gave him many more happy years with us. Sadly in May 2022 grandad passed away from covid. If it wasn't for Blood Cancer UK research we would not have been able to make so many memories with grandad and we now feel like it is our turn to support them. Blood Cancer UK are dedicated to beating blood cancer. They do this by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, they have invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, their community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
